Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bas Rutten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan comes to the ring accompanied by I'd Love to Knock the Hell out of You by Hank Williams, Jr. Daniel Ryan has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

32 - 24 - 2, fighting out of London, Daniel Ryan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bas Rutten! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Sano and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rutten tests Ryan's chin there with a solid looking shot.
It looks like Daniel Ryan has been cut. We've been hearing reports that Ryan has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. A jab from Rutten finds it's way through Ryan's defenses. Rutten scores with a decent looking hook. Rutten misses the jab. Nice defenses there by Ryan. Ryan darts in looking for a takedown but Rutten gets double underhooks and turns Ryan into the ropes. Rutten has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Rutten tries to score with a low kick but Ryan moves his leg out of the way. Rutten connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Ryan's hands. Ryan fails to land with a series of punches.
Rutten throws a big shot that misses. Rutten looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Rutten feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Ryan's calf. This has been an exciting period of action! Rutten keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Ryan lands a jab to the nose. Ryan throws a combination that misses and Rutten cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's one minute gone in the round. A decent looking cross lands there for Rutten. Ryan looks for a takedown but Rutten sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Ryan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rutten fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ryan. Rutten misses with a low kick. Ryan ducks under a wild hook from Rutten. Ryan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rutten's waist but Rutten gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ryan off to one side. Rutten throws a series of punches but Ryan avoids them all with ease. Ryan misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rutten is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Rutten gets caught flat footed, as Ryan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Ryan throws a big right hand that misses. Ryan works a leg free and moves into half guard. Ryan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
This has been an exciting period of action! Ryan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rutten defends it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rutten tries to get to full guard but Ryan has control of the leg. Ryan wants to work for an arm triangle but Rutten is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Rutten really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ryan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ryan lands a nice short elbow. Ryan is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rutten sees it coming and defends easily. Ryan is working for a kimura but Rutten is defending it quite comfortably.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rutten wants to improve his position but Ryan is controlling well.
Ryan missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Rutten gets full guard. Ryan tries to free his leg and advance position but Rutten is retaining full guard. Rutten is trying to control the position but Ryan postures up. Ryan postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rutten is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ryan, into his guard. Ryan keeping moving, preventing Rutten from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rutten bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ryan's head. Rutten is looking to score with low kicks. Rutten stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rutten wants it to stay on the feet. Ryan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rutten. Daniel Ryan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Ryan throws out a leg kick but Rutten moves out of range and Ryan only half commits. Ryan displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rutten throws out the jab. Ryan shoots in looking for a takedown. Rutten tries to sprawl out of it but Ryan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Rutten manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rutten scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Ryan feints and as Rutten raises his hands in defense, Ryan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Rutten is edging up against the ropes. He's using the ropes to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rutten breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ryan shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Ryan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ryan looking to score a takedown here. Rutten is defending well but Ryan drives through and ends up in Rutten's guard. Rutten trying to keep a closed guard but Ryan is proving a slippery customer.
Rutten has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Ryan throws a strike but Rutten rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Rutten is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Ryan trying to keep a closed guard but Rutten is proving a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Rutten slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ryan is on top in guard.
Ryan has gone for a leg lock! Rutten slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ryan's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rutten stands up from guard. Let's bang! Rutten motions for Ryan to come forward. Rutten throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Rutten throws a leg kick but Ryan sees it coming and moves out of range. Rutten fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Ryan checks it well. Ryan changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Ryan with a lazy takedown attempt and Rutten cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Rutten throws a hook to the side of Ryan's head but Ryan sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Horrible takedown attempt by Ryan or perhaps it was just good defense by Rutten, which made it look bad. Rutten throws a big shot that misses. Ryan drops down looking for a counter takedown but Rutten sprawls and moves away. Ryan looks to score with a jab to the body but Rutten is just out of range. Ryan closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Rutten feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Ryan's calf. That kick from Rutten tenderised Ryan's leg. Ryan is trying to keep his angry face on. Rutten misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rutten throws a hook but Ryan blocks it. Ryan feinted with a counter takedown. Rutten thows a left - swing and a miss! Ryan checks a leg kick. Ryan closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rutten did well to prevent Ryan getting side control. Daniel Ryan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Ryan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ryan prevents Rutten from improving his position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ryan is working for a submission of some sort.

Bas Rutten showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Daniel Ryan's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Rutten slaps away a takedown attempt from Ryan, before circling back to the center of the mat. Rutten throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ryan. Bas Rutten seems to be getting the better of the standup. No luck for Ryan with that takedown attempt. Rutten throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Rutten lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Ryan has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Ryan and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. No joy there for Ryan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Rutten was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. Ryan throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Rutten lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A chopping leg kick lands by Rutten. Rutten misses with the combination.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ryan lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rutten backs up against the ropes.
Rutten scores with a punch to the head. Bas Rutten is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ryan goes for a double leg but Rutten avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Rutten continues to drive forward. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Ryan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ryan fails with a takedown attempt. Ryan on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Rutten will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Rutten feints the counter takedown. Rutten cracks Ryan with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ryan steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Rutten. Ryan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ryan showed some decent athleticism there. Rutten manages to escape and get back to his feet! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rutten stuffs the takedown attempt from Ryan. Ryan gets slowly back to his feet. Rutten feints a counter leg kick. Ryan goes for a double leg but Rutten avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Rutten continues to drive forward. Rutten is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Rutten feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Ryan's calf. Rutten lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ryan circles away quickly and effectively. Ryan half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Rutten misses the jab. Ryan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Ryan backing away here, and Rutten unleashes a leg kick that just misses. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ryan is defended easily by Rutten. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rutten throws a nice looking combination but Ryan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Ryan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rutten avoids it really well and circles away. Rutten lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Ryan throws a jab when Rutten was well out of range. Ryan has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Rutten. Rutten tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Rutten jabs Ryan right on the nose. Ryan blinks but takes it well.
Daniel Ryan's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Rutten scores with a jab. Rutten pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ryan back to the ropes. Rutten follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ryan throws a combination that misses enabling Rutten to counter with a crisp jab. A clash of legs there as Ryan blocks the low kick. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rutten thows a left - swing and a miss! Ryan uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Rutten. Rutten defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ryan. Rutten throws a looping overhand right but Ryan ducks down to avoid it. Donk. Rutten catches Ryan right on the button with a cross.
Ryan is rocked! The crowd cheers as Rutten lands an impressive looking overhand right. Ryan doesn't seem phased though. Oh Ryan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jeez, Daniel Ryan's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. Rutten fails to land with a series of punches.
Ryan is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Rutten throws a lazy right hand but Ryan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Ryan attempts a counter takedown but Rutten avoids it well and moves away. Ryan slips a jab from Rutten. Rutten connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Rutten cracks the inside of Ryan's front leg. Daniel Ryan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Bas Rutten is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Sloppy strikes from Rutten. Those never looked like landing.
And that's the end of the fight! Bas Rutten comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Rutten has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
