Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tony Boy Cojuangco! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Pugh! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pugh keeps the fight on the outside. Cojuangco really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Pugh swats away the attempt to clinch by Cojuangco. Cojuangco moves forwards but Pugh connects with a nice, crisp jab. Pugh fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cojuangco sprawls well initially but Pugh persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Pugh lands with a punch from half guard. Cojuangco is pressing down on Pugh's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Cojuangco looking for a guillotine here but Pugh defends easily.
Pugh is stalling in the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cojuangco throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cojuangco is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pugh defends well. Pugh trying to control but Cojuangco is working from the bottom. Pugh with a nice head shot there. Pugh scoring with punches to the head and body. Pugh working some strikes from top position. Pugh keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Cojuangco's head. Cojuangco will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Pugh is working Cojuangco over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Pugh lands a couple of elbows. Cojuangco is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Cojuangco looking for a triangle here. Pugh is fighting it but it looks tight! Cojuangco pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Pugh is tapping out - this one is all over!
