Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Piotr Kowalski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Glass Joe! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Thiago Cunha and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kowalski clinches up with Joe and pushes him back against the cage. Joe is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Kowalski is defending well. Kowalski is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Joe gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Kowalski goes for a takedown attempt but Joe pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Kowalski has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kowalski jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Joe walks away with a smile on his face. Kowalski gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Piotr Kowalski. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kowalski fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Joe, pushing him back against the cage. Joe wants the takedown. Kowalski is fighting it off but Joe persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kowalski's guard against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Joe trying to control the position from guard on top but Kowalski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kowalski tries to strike from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round. Joe missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kowalski is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Joe postures up in Kowalski's guard and throws a big left but Kowalski blocks it. Kowalski knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Joe on the ground. Kowalski is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Joe has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Joe lands a couple of decent looking shots. Joe postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Joe throws a big elbow that misses. Joe postures up and lands a big shot to Kowalski's brow. Kowalski working a defensive guard here.

Joe throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Joe lands a couple of digs. Joe trying to control but Kowalski is working from the bottom. Kowalski has momentary wrist control but Joe slips an elbow through the middle. Joe scoring with some ground and pound.
Kowalski is rocked! Joe scoring with punches to the head and body. Oh Kowalski is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Joe landing with the ground and pound. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Joe gets to his feet and stands over Kowalski, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Kowalski felt that one! Joe unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Kowalski from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Glass Joe! Glass Joe decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
