Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Melvin Butts! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrey Arlovski! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Arlovski misses with a looping right. Butts takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
It looks like Melvin Butts has been cut. Arlovski paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Arlovski misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Butts.
Arlovski catches Butts napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Butts to the canvas!
Butts is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Arlovski is looking to stand up but Butts won't let him. Oh Butts is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Butts will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Butts seems to have got his legs back now. Butts tries to land a sweep but no joy. Butts pulls Arlovski in close to prevent any damage. Arlovski has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Butts is proving hard to escape from.
That's one minute gone in the round. Butts looking to hit a scissor sweep but Arlovski is one step ahead there. Butts is working hard here to advance position.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Butts avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Andrey Arlovski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice body punch from Arlovski. Arlovski tries to bum rush Butts with a series of wild strikes but Butts uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Butts looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Arlovski jabs Butts right on the nose. Butts blinks but takes it well. Arlovski lands a big shot that drops Butts! Can he finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Arlovski wants to stand but Butts is controlling his posture from full guard. Butts looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Butts is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Arlovski wants to stand but Butts has a closed guard, so he can't escape. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Arlovski scores with a sloppy right hand. Butts should have avoided that one. Arlovski scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Arlovski drops Butts with a right and a left! Arlovski comes rushing in but Butts regains his composure and manages to keep Arlovski in guard.
Arlovski must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Butts pulls Arlovski in close to prevent any damage. Arlovski would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Butts is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Andrey Arlovski dominated that round. The cut man is working on Melvin Butts's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Butts is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Arlovski's half guard. Butts is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Butts prevents Arlovski from standing back up.
Arlovski makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Nice shot lands for Arlovski. Arlovski has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Butts is landing a low percentage of strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Butts walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Butts really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Arlovski is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Butts like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Butts from another fist facial!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Andrey Arlovski! Andrey Arlovski really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Mohito Fightwear logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
