Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Romulus Veres! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Luther! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circle momentarily. Luther darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
It looks like Romulus Veres has been cut. Some wild striking there from Luther.
Veres misses with a double jab.
Luther throws out a counter right but Veres avoids it with no problem. Luther misses with a jab, cross combination.
Veres misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Luther.
Veres digs a good body shot into Luther's ribs. Luther takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. A combination from Luther does no damage. Veres definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Veres fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Luther on the side of the head. Veres drops Luther with a beautiful combination! Luther stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Veres is looking for the KO!
Luther is rocked!
It looks like John Luther has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Veres takes a swing at Luther's ribcage but misses. Luther keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Veres dodges the punch combination from Luther.
Luther just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromVeres. John Luther seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Veres sends Luther crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Veres is motioning to the referee to let Luther up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet! Luther is still on wobbly legs! Can Veres finish him? Luther is holding his hands too far apart here. Veres throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Luther is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!
