Morrison comes to the cage accompanied by Diary of a Madman. David Morrison could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to John Blitz's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Morrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Blitz!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Joseph Jones and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Morrison shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Blitz manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morrison slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Morrison thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Morrison is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Morrison advances position into side control!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Morrison throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

Morrison is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Blitz knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Blitz wants to get back to his feet but Morrison drags him back down.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Morrison is trying to get an arm triangle but Blitz is defending well.
Morrison in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blitz is looking to reverse the position.
Blitz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Morrison. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Morrison tries for a kimura but Blitz is defending well.

Morrison has hold of Blitz's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Blitz seems comfortable defending it but Morrison has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Blitz is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Blitz is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Morrison couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). David Morrison!
During a confident post fight interview, David Morrison thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
