Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Katana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Carlos Ryoku!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryoku shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Katana tries for a takedown but Ryoku circles away easily
and Ryoku counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ryoku.
Katana is trying to keep Ryoku in close.
Ryoku is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Ryoku stops Katana from standing up.

Ryoku advances to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ryoku prevents Katana from standing back up.
Ryoku is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Katana doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ryoku.
Katana tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Ryoku has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Ryoku wants to finish this one by submission but Katana is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Ryoku.

Ryoku goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Katana is on top in guard.
Ryoku looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ryoku has his foot on Katana's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Katana works his way back into a safe position though.
Katana trying to control the position from guard on top but Ryoku is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Katana looking to sit in guard and control but Ryoku gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carlos Ryoku dominated that round.

Katana scores with a kick to the midsection.
Katana wants to clinch but Ryoku slips to the side
and Ryoku counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Ryoku prevents Katana from getting back to his feet.
Ryoku is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Katana is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Katana has escaped and now he's on top!
Ryoku manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Katana manages to get himself to full guard.

Ryoku trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Carlos Ryoku has got the better of the ground game so far.
Katana wants to get back to his feet but Ryoku is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Katana is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Ryoku dives into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Katana is looking for a sweep.
Katana bucks up and tries to throw Ryoku off but instead Ryoku has got his back!
Ryoku is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Katana knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Katana for a finish.

Ryoku has his arm under Katana's chin here. Game over son! Ryoku squeezes tightly and Katana is forced to tap out!
