Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Fatman Hatton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and thaigo alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). alves comes into a darkened arena with his song building. sandstorm kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! thaigo alves has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fatman Hatton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Luis Engracia and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
alves rushes Hatton and presses him up against the cage.
alves tries to pull guard but Hatton holds him up against the cage and eventually alves drops back down to his feet.
alves tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hatton smiles and moves away.
Hatton misses with a takedown attempt - alves sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
alves shoots in but Hatton avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Fatman Hatton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of thaigo alves.
No luck for Hatton with that takedown attempt.
alves tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hatton swivels and escapes.
Horrible takedown by alves or perhaps it was just good defense by Hatton which made him look bad.
alves thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Hatton if he has to take too many more of those.
Hatton tries to clinch but fails miserably
and alves counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
alves tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Hatton.

alves blocks the strikes from Hatton.
alves is trying to control the action in half guard but Hatton is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Hatton wants to control but alves is keeping busy.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hatton is looking to control alves's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hatton avoid being mounted?
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hatton shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and alves counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Hatton is breathing heavily.
alves is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
alves prevents Hatton from improving his position.

alves wants to take a breather but Hatton is having none of it.
Hatton avoiding damage under a succession of punches from alves.

Hatton wanted to stand there but alves had control of the position.

alves wants to hit a switch here but Hatton passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for alves there!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

alves is looking to clinch but Hatton is avoiding it.
Hatton plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
alves shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hatton as he avoids it easily.
Hatton gets in close and instigates a clinch.
alves tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hatton smiles and moves away.
Hatton throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and alves counters by moving into the clinch.
Hatton breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

alves pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hatton.

letting alves counter with a right hand.

alves is looking to clinch.
alves misses with a takedown attempt
and Hatton finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

alves shoots in but Hatton avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Hatton fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
alves steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Hatton. That one must have hurt.
Hatton fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt alves.
Hatton shoots in for a double leg but alves sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
alves gets caught flat footed, as Hatton shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hatton would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Hatton postures up in alves's guard and throws a big left but alves blocks it.
Hatton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
alves has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hatton is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for alves.
alves is trying to escape the position but Hatton is controlling the position.
alves prevents Hatton from improving position.
alves is looking to get back to his feet here but Hatton is keeping cool and he's managed to take alves's back.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Hatton controlling the positon.
alves tries to escape but Hatton has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Hatton throwing sloppy strikes.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
alves covering up well and avoiding damage.
Good control from Hatton.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
alves is covering up but some of the strikes from Hatton are getting through and doing damage.
Hatton lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
Will Hatton go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

That's time! Hatton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Hatton shoots for a double leg takedown but alves sprawls well. He's pushed Hatton's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hatton clinches but alves breaks the clinch
enabling alves to counter with a crisp jab.
Hatton avoids the head kick by alves.
alves slips a straight right by Hatton.
Hatton connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

and Hatton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in alves's guard.

alves wants to stand up but Hatton is controlling him.

and alves counters with a shoot takedown. Hatton fights it but they end up in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hatton throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
alves wants to clinch up but Hatton keeps it at a distance.
Hatton rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but alves moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hatton shoots in looking for a takedown. alves tries to sprawl out of it but Hatton keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. alves manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fatman Hatton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
