With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Robert Lee!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee misses with a combination

and Kriel counters by clinching up.

Kriel breaks the clinch.
Piet Kriel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lee tries to clinch but Kriel is having none of it.
We've been told by Kriel's head coaches at Barbell Brigade - $700 that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lee is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Lee postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lee is keen to just control but Kriel is a slippery customer.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lee in particular looking to stall.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Lee tries for a takedown but Kriel circles away easily
and Kriel counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Kriel shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lee napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Lee manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Lee is working for a kimura here but Kriel manages to reverse the position and he's now in Lee's guard.

Kriel avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Kriel got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lee has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kriel has managed to get both his arms back between Lee's legs - danger averted.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kriel is posturing up here but Lee has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Kriel tries to roll out but it's too tight and Kriel has to tap! Slick submission there by Lee!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Robert Lee!
