Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rong Le (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alk Manik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Rong Le has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rong Le!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alk Manik!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Le escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Le.
Le connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Le works Manik's body with a nice hook.
Le slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Manik gets the takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
You can see the frustration on Le's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Manik advances nicely into full mount.

Manik looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Le tries to hold on but Manik pushes him away.
Manik cracks Le with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Manik has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Le wants to hold on but Manik pushes him away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Le is squirming around, avoiding Manik's attempts to control the action.

Manik is working for a guillotine from mount but Le frees his head quite easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Manik looking to secure an arm triangle but Le defends it well.
Le is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Le keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Le squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Manik wants to control the pace but Le is squirming around nicely.
Manik misses with a head shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Le bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Le avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Manik working for a triangle but Le defends it easily.
Le looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Le wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Manik's closed guard. He's half up but Manik has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Manik pivots and extends the arm, Le falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Manik! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Alk Manik!
