The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hayes with a lazy takedown attempt
and Arcuri counters with a series of strikes. Hayes will be more careful next time no doubt.
Arcuri jabs Hayes to the body, keeping him at a distance.
A nice combination there by Arcuri.
It looks like Michael Hayes has been cut.
Arcuri thuds his right hand into Hayes's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Arcuri lands a left and a right that send Hayes crashing to the mat, dazed. Arcuri thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Hayes tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Arcuri defends well and Hayes ends up having to push Arcuri into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Hayes's coach down at Beast Bar was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Hayes's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Horrible takedown attempt by Hayes or perhaps it was just good defense by Arcuri, which made it look bad.
Phil Arcuri has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Hayes.
Hayes shoots in for a takedown but Arcuri shows good takedown defense.
Hayes seems to have recovered his senses.

Hayes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Arcuri sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hayes somewhat.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hayes is defended easily by Arcuri.
Michael Hayes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Arcuri punishes Hayes's body with a nice straight punch.
Arcuri has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Hugs & Kisses in the buildup to the fight.
Hayes shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Arcuri sprawls well. Arcuri wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hayes gets slowly back to his feet.

Arcuri jabs Hayes right on the nose. Hayes blinks but takes it well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Arcuri cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Hayes takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Hayes dives in and grabs Arcuri's left leg, looking for a takedown. Arcuri pushes down on Hayes's head and hops out.

and Arcuri counters with a crisp right hand that drops Hayes! Arcuri lets Hayes back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Hayes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Arcuri counters with a big right hand! Oh Hayes is in trouble here! Arcuri follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
