Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Torquil Bram! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dwayne Boskins! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bram connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Bram lands a lovely overhand right. We've been informed that Boskins has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Nice straight punches there by Bram. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Bram. Nice defenses there by Boskins. Bram fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Boskins manages to avoid it. Boskins throws an overhand right that lands on Bram's shoulder, as Bram tries to avoid the shot. Boskins shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bram is trying to defend but Boskins finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Bram's coaches at Montreal Fighter's Gym (5* Sparring) have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Bram trying to control here.
Bram knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Boskins on the ground. Boskins drops an elbow to the side of Bram's head. Bram is controlling Boskins's trapped leg to prevent Boskins from advancing to side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Boskins lands strikes from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boskins decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Boskins tries to clinch but Bram moves away and Bram counters with a series of strikes. Boskins will be more careful next time no doubt. Boskins uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bram. Some wild striking there from Bram.
Boskins is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Boskins has closed the distance and engaged Bram in a clinch.
Boskins decides to pull guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Boskins is on top in guard.
Bram is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Boskins stands up over Bram, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bram working a defensive guard but Boskins passes into half guard.
Boskins trying to control the action but Bram is working from the bottom. Boskins sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Bram defending well though. Boskins is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Boskins is in the full mount, landing strikes. Bram tries to improve his position but Boskins has taken his back! Boskins has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Bram tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Boskins pushes Bram away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
