Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wayne Kerr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mike Lee! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kerr gets a double leg takedown into Lee's guard. Lee keeping moving, preventing Kerr from controlling successfully. Lee is adopting a defensive guard. Lee looking for a sweep. Not yet Lee, not yet. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lee can do anything to dispel that myth. Kerr drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kerr jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Kerr passes easily into side control. Nice work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lee is not content to let Kerr control the position. Lee is looking to reverse the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Kerr's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Lee felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Kerr wants to free his trapped foot but Lee is holding on for dear life with his legs. Kerr is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Lee! Lee can't escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kerr fails to move to back control. Kerr wants to control the pace but Lee is squirming around nicely. Lee is looking to improve his position but Kerr isn't that keen on the idea. Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kerr. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lee is trying to escape the mount but Kerr keeps good control and instead manages to take Lee's back.
Kerr is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Lee is defending well though. Kerr let's go of the attempt for now. Lee staying busy and making it hard for Kerr to control.

Kerr trying to control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lee tries to escape but Kerr has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kerr is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Lee defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Kerr trying to control. Lee is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
