PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mega Minion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Douglas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Douglas has chosen Go For a Soda by Kim Mitchell as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mega Minion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Douglas!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Minion delivers a nice body kick.
Minion looks to land a combination but Douglas avoids it well.
Minion throws a looping overhand right but Douglas ducks down to avoid it.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Minion.
Minion looks to score with a jab to the body but Douglas is just out of range.
Minion uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Douglas has time to react.
A slow jab from Minion misses its intended target.
Douglas throws the kick towards the body but Minion avoids it.
Minion misses with a wild body shot.

and Douglas decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Minion's guard.
Minion is pulling down on Douglas's head. It's preventing any offense from Douglas, at least for the moment.
Douglas tries to free his leg and advance position but Minion is retaining full guard.

Douglas is a very stocky fighter. Infact he's such a weird shape that he's almost like some sort of comedy character - it's hard to believe he's real.

Minion wants to get back to his feet but Douglas is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Minion swings for the body but Douglas moves out of range.
Minion throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Douglas looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Douglas takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Minion shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Douglas pinned against the cage. Douglas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Minion fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Douglas.

Minion scores with a jab. Douglas acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Minion closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Douglas's guard.

Minion might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Minion sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Douglas's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Douglas checks a leg kick.
Douglas swats away the attempt to clinch by Minion.
Minion pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Douglas uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Minion.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mega Minion will probably get the nod.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Douglas is trying to push Minion away but Minion has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Douglas has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Minion regains guard immediately.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Douglas connects with a nice short shot to Minion's temple.

Oh Minion is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Douglas lands a big elbow - Minion is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Douglas!
