Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 21 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Daniello Pablo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 14 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Charleston! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pablo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Charleston misses with a few strikes there.
Pablo closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Charleston did well to prevent Pablo getting side control. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Pablo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Charleston avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Pablo. Pablo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pablo connects with a nice short shot to Charleston's temple. Pablo winds up and cracks Charleston with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Charleston really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pablo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pablo is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Charleston is defending against the submission attempts here by Pablo.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Pablo missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Pablo landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Pablo not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Pablo seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pablo working over Charleston with some ground and pound. Charleston looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Well, if Pablo is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Pablo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Pablo fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Pablo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Charleston can do to turn this around? Pablo closes the distance and clinches up with Charleston, looking for a takedown. Pablo pushes Charleston against the cage but Charleston circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniello Pablo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Charleston has taken the fight to the clinch.

Charleston is fighting off a takedown attempt but Pablo is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Charleston to the mat. Charleston regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Pablo drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Charleston manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pablo has Charleston in his guard. Charleston wants to control from the top but Pablo keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pablo has momentary wrist control but Charleston slips an elbow through the middle. Daniello Pablo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pablo preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Charleston throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pablo is looking to cinch up a triangle. Charleston throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Pablo's body to avoid the submission. Pablo has instead reached around Charleston's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Pablo arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
