The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Voorhees gets the takedown into side control.
Messinger taking punishment in the form of punches.
Voorhees wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Messinger, who protects the arm well.
Voorhees sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Messinger is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Voorhees throws an elbow but Messinger slips to the side and avoids it well.
Voorhees has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Voorhees has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Voorhees cracks Messinger with a big right hand but Messinger just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Messinger gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Voorhees pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
It looks like Henrik Messinger has been cut.
Messinger avoids a series of strikes thrown by Voorhees.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Messinger takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Henrik Messinger's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Anderson Voorhees decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
Henrik Messinger was interviewed post fight and said 'It's a tough loss. Gotta go back to the gym and work harder.'.
