Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cruz Frederick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Big Kaly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cruz Frederick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Big Kaly !
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frederick shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kaly but Kaly pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Kaly closes the distance and clinches.
Frederick tries to pull guard but Kaly forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Frederick is trying to pull guard but Kaly has him pressed against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cruz Frederick. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Frederick gets control of Kaly 's arms and successfully pulls guard. Frederick will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kaly wants to control from the top but Frederick keeps moving.

Kaly got a little sloppy there for a moment and Frederick has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kaly has managed to get both his arms back between Frederick's legs - danger averted.
Kaly must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Frederick wants to stand up but Kaly is controlling him.

Kaly stands and steps away. Frederick gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Kaly tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Frederick manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kaly shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Frederick but Frederick pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Big Kaly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Frederick clinches.
Frederick tries to pull guard but Kaly holds him up against the cage and eventually Frederick drops back down to his feet.

Kaly jumps guard and drags Frederick to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Kaly wants to sweep here but Frederick controlling him for the moment.
Kaly avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kaly throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Frederick trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Kaly is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Frederick has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kaly is proving hard to escape from.
Kaly is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Frederick circles away from the clinch attempt.
As Kaly looks to move away, Frederick throws a big counter combo but Kaly just gets out of the way.
Kaly jabs at Frederick's body.
Kaly darts in looking for a takedown but Frederick gets double underhooks and turns Kaly into the cage.

Frederick forces Kaly back against the cage and clinches.

Kaly decides to pull guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kaly tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Frederick postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Kaly not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Frederick throws a big elbow that misses.
Frederick is looking to work some ground and pound but Kaly has wrist control.
Frederick works over Kaly with some ground and pound from guard.
Frederick stops Kaly from standing up.
Frederick with a flurry of punches that miss.
Kaly wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Frederick postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Frederick's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Frederick is looking to work some ground and pound but Kaly has wrist control.

Frederick with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Frederick throws an elbow that misses. Kaly uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Frederick's guard. Nice move by Kaly !

Frederick is controlling Kaly 's posture.

Frederick escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kaly gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Frederick looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kaly is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cruz Frederick will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Kaly pushes Frederick up against the cage in a clinch.

Frederick decides to pull guard.
Kaly in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Kaly is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Kaly postures up.
Frederick throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Frederick utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Frederick looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Frederick looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kaly accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Frederick looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kaly is one step ahead there.

Frederick not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Frederick throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Kaly stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Frederick swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kaly controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Frederick throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Kaly escapes and throws Frederick's legs to the side, diving into side control!

A lull in the action here as Kaly stalls from top position.
Frederick tries to escape but Kaly is in control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Frederick wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Frederick is not content to let Kaly control the position.
Kaly passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Frederick!
Frederick is in all sorts of trouble here.

Frederick moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Frederick is pulling down on Kaly 's head. It's preventing any offense from Kaly , at least for the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Frederick holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Kaly is looking to take a break and control but Frederick is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Frederick has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kaly controlling the action here.
Kaly is keen to just control but Frederick is a slippery customer.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kaly might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Frederick haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Kaly shoots in but no luck this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Big Kaly showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Frederick displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kaly .
Kaly throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Frederick's waist but Frederick gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kaly off to one side.
Kaly throws a head kick that misses
and Frederick counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Frederick shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Frederick was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kaly bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kaly tries to score a power double leg takedown but Frederick sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kaly somewhat.
Cruz Frederick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big Kaly .
Kaly takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Frederick throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kaly 's waist but Kaly gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Frederick off to one side.

Frederick wants to get back to his feet but Kaly is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Frederick is desperately trying to improve his position but Kaly has a good base and remains in mount.
Frederick tries to hold on but Kaly postures up.
Frederick is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Kaly controlling from the full mount.
Frederick tries to hold on but Kaly pushes him away.
Kaly won't let Frederick get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Frederick is looking to get to half guard.
Kaly can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Frederick is looking to escape.

Frederick tries to lock up and control but Kaly gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Kaly looking to control but Frederick is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Frederick tries to reverse the position but Kaly maintains control.
Frederick wants to hold on but Kaly pushes him away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Frederick holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Kaly tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Kaly looking for a guillotine from mount but Frederick is having none of it.

Big Kaly comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kaly has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
