Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jose Rizal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BillyBob DaRitchie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jose Rizal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, BillyBob DaRitchie! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! DaRitchie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. DaRitchie throws a strike but Rizal rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. DaRitchie wants to stand and escape but Rizal is having none of it. Rizal trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. DaRitchie being controlled here, momentarily. Rizal preventing the sweep. Rizal has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. DaRitchie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rizal defends well. DaRitchie looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rizal is one step ahead there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rizal is stalling in the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. DaRitchie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Rizal wants to pass the guard but DaRitchie is keeping the position. Rizal is working hard here to advance position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. DaRitchie has a closed guard, preventing Rizal from standing up. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rizal accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. DaRitchie trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. DaRitchie trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. DaRitchie gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. DaRitchie throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Rizal postures up.
DaRitchie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rizal doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rizal manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. DaRitchie looks winded! DaRitchie has his foot on Rizal's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rizal works his way back into a safe position though. Rizal is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Rizal wanted to stand there but DaRitchie had control of the position. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rizal's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. DaRitchie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rizal's waist but Rizal gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing DaRitchie off to one side. Rizal throws a head kick that misses. Rizal throws a right hand that misses
and DaRitchie counters with a series of strikes. Rizal will be more careful next time no doubt. Rizal decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Rizal slows the pace down in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rizal has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Rizal seems to be working for a kimura but DaRitchie defends the submission attempt. Rizal slows the pace down in half guard. Rizal tries to pass the half guard into mount. DaRitchie knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rizal takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jose Rizal dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Rizal rushes DaRitchie and presses him up against the cage. Rizal wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but DaRitchie has him pressed against the cage. DaRitchie avoids the elbow strike from Rizal, against the cage.
DaRitchie can't get the takedown.
Rizal prevents a takedown attempt there.
A short right from DaRitchie. DaRitchie prevents Rizal from breaking the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rizal has hold of one of DaRitchie's legs. DaRitchie is fighting the takedown attempt but Rizal gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Jose Rizal overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rizal avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. DaRitchie is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. DaRitchie tries to land a sweep but no joy. DaRitchie is breathing heavily. Rizal is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. DaRitchie is trying to keep Rizal in close.
Rizal tries to stand but DaRitchie is controlling from the bottom. Rizal passes into half guard. Rizal not landing any meaningful shots this time. Rizal slows the pace down in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Rizal wants to pass to mount but DaRitchie is defending the position. Rizal is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
DaRitchie is trying to get back to full guard. DaRitchie keeps trying to improve his position. Rizal throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Rizal controlling the action here.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. No joy there for Rizal, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Rizal manages to get an easy takedown there - catching DaRitchie on his heels. He'll look to pass DaRitchie's guard now, I'm sure.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rizal is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. DaRitchie preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Rizal engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Rizal throws a big elbow that misses. Rizal is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that DaRitchie can do to turn this around? DaRitchie will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Rizal is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Rizal postures up in DaRitchie's guard and throws a big left but DaRitchie blocks it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. DaRitchie trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! DaRitchie throws a few punches from the bottom. Rizal seems unphased and he's got hold of a leg now - he's dropped back for a heel hook! He's got it! This fight is aaaaaaaaaall over!
