Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kirk Boon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Azar Qasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boon kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is American Ninja 2 OST - Truckin'. Qasi has chosen For Whom The Bell Tolls as his entrance music. Azar Qasi will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kirk Boon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Azar Qasi!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boon dives in for a single leg takedown but Qasi sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Qasi sizes up Boon with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Qasi uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
We've been hearing reports that Boon has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Qasi scores with a jab to the head.
Boon shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Qasi as he jumps to the side.

Boon gets the takedown into side control.
Qasi sneaks back into half guard.

Boon drops back, looking for a kneebar! Qasi looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Qasi looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Qasi!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Boon tries to get to full guard but Qasi has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Qasi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Boon is just riding it out for now. Qasi eventually gives up the hold.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Boon tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Qasi defends well and Boon ends up having to push Qasi into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Qasi lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Boon backs up against the cage.

Qasi has control of Boon's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Boon regains control of the situation pretty easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Azar Qasi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Qasi is a very stocky fighter. Infact he's such a weird shape that he's almost like some sort of comedy character - it's hard to believe he's real.

Azar Qasi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Qasi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
