Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andre Ribiero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julius Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steel has chosen Its a Fight as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andre Ribiero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 25 - 3, fighting out of Amsterdam, Julius Steel!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ribiero closes this distance looking for a takedown but Steel circles away.
Steel comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Steel lands with a shot to the body.
A decent looking cross lands there for Steel.
Steel stuffs the takedown.
Steel throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ribiero stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ribiero shoots for a double leg takedown but Steel sprawls well. He's pushed Ribiero's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andre Ribiero. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Steel connects with a body shot that sends Ribiero's belly button to the back.
Steel getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Steel stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Steel wants it to stay on the feet.
Ribiero has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Ribiero there as he acknowledges the shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Steel throws a lazy head kick

and Ribiero counters with a single leg into guard. Steel didn't expect that.
Ribiero pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Steel is keeping the position for now.
Ribiero is breathing heavily.

Ribiero trying to control but Steel is working from the bottom.
Ribiero won't allow Steel to get back to his feet.
Steel pulls Ribiero in to control the position.
Steel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ribiero. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Steel wants to get back to his feet but Ribiero is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Steel uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ribiero.
Steel scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Ribiero will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ribiero shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Steel as he avoids it easily.
Steel ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Steel lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Steel.


It looks like Andre Ribiero has been cut.
Ribiero with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Steel to score with a decent uppercut.
Steel scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ribiero doesn't seem bothered though.
The crowd cheers as Steel lands an impressive looking overhand right. Ribiero doesn't seem phased though.
Steel lands a jab to the head.
Ribiero takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Steel with a hook.
Julius Steel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ribiero shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Steel feints and then cracks Ribiero's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ribiero down.
Steel fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Steel is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Ribiero rather than just go for the knockout.

A jab-cross combination lands for Steel and sends Ribiero crashing to the mat! Steel follows him down to the mat - Ribiero regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Ribiero is rocked!

Steel stands up out of the half guard.

Steel lands with an uppercut that bounces Ribiero off the cage and back into range.


Andre Ribiero's cut is getting worse.
Steel throws a nice head kick!
Steel has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Ribiero is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Steel throws a sloppy head kick and Ribiero moves out of range easily.
Ribiero changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Steel is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Ribiero had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Good exchange - Steel coming out on top.

Ribiero ducks straight into an uppercut from Steel and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Ribiero manages to regain guard straight away.
Oh Ribiero is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Steel is looking to stand up but Ribiero won't let him.
Ribiero seems to have got his legs back now.
Steel trying to control but Ribiero is working from the bottom.
Steel looking to pass the guard.

Steel wants to get up but he can't break Ribiero's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Steel pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ribiero is keeping the position for now.
Steel wanted to stand there but Ribiero had control of the position.
Steel trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Steel is looking to stand up but Ribiero won't let him.

Steel gets to his feet. Ribiero looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Ribiero takes one to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Ribiero takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Left hook, right uppercut from Steel.
Ribiero tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Steel throws a body punch but Ribiero moves out of range.
Steel has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Steel connects with a body shot that sends Ribiero's belly button to the back.
Steel throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Ribiero takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Steel looks to land a combination. Ribiero sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


Andre Ribiero's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Steel throws a nice inside leg kick.
Steel plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Ribiero shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Steel pinned against the cage. Steel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A jab from Steel finds it's way through Ribiero's defenses.

Steel wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Steel lands a nice hook to Ribiero's body. Ribiero takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Ribiero takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Ribiero gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Steel.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Steel has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Steel lands a head kick. Ribiero smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


Jeez, Andre Ribiero's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Steel lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ribiero circles away quickly and effectively.
Ribiero half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Steel lands a nice hook to Ribiero's body. Ribiero takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Ribiero takes a swing at Steel's ribcage but misses.
Steel connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Ribiero's hands.
Steel jabs Ribiero right on the nose. Ribiero blinks but takes it well.
Steel scoring well with a low kick there.
Steel with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Steel looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Steel throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Steel connects with a looping right hand.
Steel swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Steel dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A bone on bone clash there as Steel blocks the leg kick.
Steel scores with a shot to the body.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Steel, as that shot connected.
Ribiero goes for a double leg but Steel avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Steel continues to drive forward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andre Ribiero. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Steel counters with a straight right hand.
Ribiero drops his hands momentarily and Steel takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Ribiero takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Julius Steel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Steel cracks Ribiero with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Steel takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Steel just misses with a punch to the body.
Steel connects with a crisp jab.

Steel stuns Ribiero with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Julius Steel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Steel dips to his left and cracks Ribiero with an uppercut!

Ribiero gets the takedown into side control.
Steel wants to control but Ribiero postures up.
Ribiero has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Steel!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steel is squirming around, avoiding Ribiero's attempts to control the action.
Ribiero prevents Steel from getting the reversal.
Steel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Ribiero tries to control but Steel wriggling away.
Steel sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Ribiero wants to lay and pray for a moment but Steel keeps working.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ribiero is pressing down on Steel's thigh, looking to free his foot. Steel is holding on for now.
Ribiero is trying to control the action in half guard but Steel is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Steel wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Ribiero looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Steel lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Ribiero tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Steel defends well and Ribiero ends up having to push Steel into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

A very excited looking Julius Steel made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
