Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Davi Azevedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cliff Carlysle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Davi Azevedo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cliff Carlysle! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Daniel Cesar and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Azevedo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Carlysle throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Carlysle pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Carlysle is looking to land body kicks. Carlysle checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Carlysle tries to clinch there but Azevedo circles away.
Carlysle tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Azevedo throws a leg kick that is checked and Carlysle counters with a takedown into side control. Azevedo is not content to let Carlysle control the position. Carlysle creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Azevedo sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Carlysle wants to control but Azevedo is keeping him busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carlysle tries to stand but Azevedo controls the position and pulls Carlysle into his guard. Azevedo wants to stand and escape but Carlysle is having none of it. Azevedo keeping moving, preventing Carlysle from controlling successfully. Azevedo is breathing heavily. Azevedo keeping full guard, as Carlysle tries to pass.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Azevedo waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Carlysle. A low kick from Azevedo misses so Carlysle counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Azevedo keeping moving, preventing Carlysle from controlling successfully. Carlysle throwing strikes but missing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carlysle trying to control but Azevedo is working from the bottom. Carlysle throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Azevedo keeping full guard, as Carlysle tries to pass. Carlysle wants to control from the top but Azevedo keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Carlysle tries to clinch up. Azevedo motions for Carlysle to come forward. Azevedo throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Azevedo throws a lazy head kick and Carlysle counters with a nice double leg into side control. Azevedo won't be happy with that. Carlysle wants to stand but Azevedo is controlling his arm. Carlysle working the body and head with strikes. Azevedo is trying to buck Carlysle off. Azevedo throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cliff Carlysle dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Azevedo tries to work over Carlysle's front leg with a kick but Carlysle checks it. Carlysle shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Carlysle was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Carlysle wants to control the pace but Azevedo is squirming around nicely. Azevedo wants to get back to his feet.
Carlysle thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Carlysle can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Azevedo is looking to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carlysle won't let Azevedo get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Carlysle looking to control but Azevedo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Azevedo blocking the ground and pound. Carlysle throwing strikes here but Azevedo is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Poor strikes thrown by Carlysle there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Carlysle fails to take his opponent's back. Azevedo avoids a strike by Carlysle and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Carlysle's guard! Fantastic escape!
Azevedo gets to his feet. Carlysle looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Azevedo throws a sloppy head kick and Carlysle decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Azevedo's guard. Azevedo keeping full guard, as Carlysle tries to pass.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Azevedo is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Carlysle wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Knees to the body from Azevedo.
Azevedo just leaning against Carlysle, taking a breather. Azevedo seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression. Azevedo lands a knee to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A knee to the head by Azevedo.
Azevedo leaning his opponent against the cage. Azevedo throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Carlysle blocks it with crossed arms. Azevedo misses with a knee to the head. Carlysle is trying to break free. Azevedo tries to land knees in the clinch but Carlysle avoids the damage to the body. Carlysle tries for a takedown. No joy.

Carlysle tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Carlysle throws a right and a left that both miss. Carlysle drives through with a takedown into guard. Carlysle trying to control but Azevedo is working from the bottom. Carlysle wants to stand and escape but instead Azevedo has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Cliff Carlysle has got the better of the ground game so far. Carlysle is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Carlysle wants to sweep here but Azevedo controlling him for the moment. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Carlysle misses with a takedown attempt - Azevedo sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Carlysle looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Carlysle tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Azevedo swivels and escapes. Davi Azevedo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cliff Carlysle. Azevedo throws a quick inside leg kick. Azevedo throws a lazy head kick and Carlysle counters with a good, hard body kick but Azevedo shrugs it off. Carlysle fails with the takedown. Azevedo throws a leg kick that is checked and Carlysle makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Azevedo really felt that one! Carlysle tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Carlysle looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Azevedo is fending him off so far but Carlysle persists. Nope, Azevedo circles away and we're back to standing. Azevedo throws a low kick, looking for Carlysle's leg but Carlysle calmly moves out of range. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Azevedo lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Carlysle has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Carlysle and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Azevedo throws a right and a left that both miss. Davi Azevedo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Carlysle throws a shot to the body.
Carlysle lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Carlysle. Azevedo misses with a low kick as Carlysle jumps back. Azevedo throws a sloppy head kick and Carlysle moves out of range easily. Azevedo tries to score with a low kick but Carlysle moves his leg out of the way. Azevedo looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice sprawl there from Azevedo as Carlysle shoots in. Carlysle moves out of range as Azevedo throws a body kick.
Carlysle drives through with a takedown into guard. Carlysle trying to control the position from guard on top but Azevedo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Azevedo uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Carlysle shoots in and drives through. Azevedo sprawls well. Azevedo tries to land a front kick but Carlysle steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carlysle chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Azevedo can pounce on him.
Carlysle avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Carlysle fails with a takedown attempt. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Azevedo, right into the meat.
Azevedo tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Carlysle avoids the head kick by Azevedo.
Azevedo keeps the fight on the outside. Carlysle shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Azevedo but Azevedo pushes him off and we're back to square one. Azevedo misses with an attempted mid kick.

Carlysle lands with a nice body punch. Carlysle looks for a takedown but Azevedo sprawls well. Azevedo misses with a kick to the body.
Azevedo has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Carlysle fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Azevedo with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Davi Azevedo. I think Azevedo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
