PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cody Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fah Koff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cody Thompson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fah Koff!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koff shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Thompson sprawls well. Thompson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Koff gets slowly back to his feet.
Thompson slaps away a takedown attempt from Koff, before circling back to the center of the mat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Koff closes the distance and clinches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Koff tries to score a body lock takedown but Thompson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Cody Thompson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fah Koff.
Koff has Thompson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Thompson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Thompson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Koff is defending well for now.

Thompson manages to break the clinch.

Thompson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Thompson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Thompson blocks a head kick by Koff.
Thompson changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Thompson darts in looking for a takedown but Koff gets double underhooks and turns Thompson into the cage.
Koff throws out a counter right but Thompson avoids it with no problem.
Thompson shoots in for a takedown but Koff shows good takedown defense.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Thompson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Koff sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Thompson somewhat.
Koff goes for a double leg but Thompson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Thompson continues to drive forward.
Koff misses with a takedown

and Thompson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Thompson with a flurry of punches that miss.
Koff utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Koff pulls Thompson in close to prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thompson throwing strikes but missing.

Koff wriggles free and stands up.

Thompson gets a double leg takedown into Koff's guard.
Thompson throws a big right hand that misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Thompson connects with a couple of short punches.

Koff has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Thompson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Koff.
Koff manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Koff is working for a kimura but Thompson is defending it quite comfortably.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Koff stands up out of the half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cody Thompson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Koff shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Koff was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Fah Koff has got the better of the ground game so far.
A lull in the action here as Koff stalls from top position.

Koff has hold of Thompson's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Thompson seems comfortable defending it but Koff has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Thompson is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Thompson is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Koff couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Fah Koff!
