Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Columbus Webster! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anton Baron! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A combination from Baron does no damage. Baron has managed to clinch.
Baron wants to break the clinch but can't.
Webster avoiding damage as Baron throws knees to the body.
Webster wants the takedown. Baron is fighting it off but Webster persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Baron's guard against the cage. Webster connects with a couple of short punches. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Baron wants to sweep but no luck. Webster with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Webster landing some decent shots from guard. Webster gets to his feet - Baron follows without any prompting. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Webster rushes Baron and presses him up against the cage. Webster blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Baron working hard to break the clinch. Baron wants to break the clinch but can't.
Baron has had enough of the clinch but Webster keeps him there for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Webster escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Left hook, right uppercut from Baron. Baron looks to land a combination but Webster avoids it well. Baron has managed to clinch.
Baron looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Webster using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Baron has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Baron can't break the clinch.
Baron tries to land knees in the clinch but Webster avoids the damage to the body. Webster prevents Baron from breaking the clinch. Webster is trying to drag Baron to the mat but Baron just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Webster changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Baron fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Baron darts in and clinches Webster up against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baron tries to break free but Webster pushes him back against the cage. Webster blocks an elbow strike. Webster tries to pull guard but Baron forces him back to his feet, against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Columbus Webster. That's going to take a lot out of him. Baron tries to break free but Webster pushes him back against the cage. Baron tries to circle away but Webster has him pinned against the cage. Baron missing with knees to the body.
Webster tries to pull guard but Baron won't allow it.
Webster goes for a takedown attempt but Baron pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Baron has cracked Webster with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Baron lands another huge swinging hook and Webster tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Webster, before Baron can land any more shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Anton Baron!
