PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ediz Gulbahar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dietrich Jager (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dietrich Jager will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ediz Gulbahar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dietrich Jager!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Gulbahar misses.
Jager changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gulbahar tries to avoid it but Jager manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gulbahar to the ground. Gulbahar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jager fails to land the takedown.
Jager ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Jager shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gulbahar as he jumps to the side.
Gulbahar swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Ediz Gulbahar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dietrich Jager.
Gulbahar throws a series of punches but Jager moves out of range.
And Jager tries to counter it with a takedown but Gulbahar pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Jager closes the distance and lands a one-two.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gulbahar misses with a few strikes there.

Gulbahar shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jager is trying to defend but Gulbahar finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Jager tries to kick Gulbahar off in order to stand up. Gulbahar Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Jager tries to buck Gulbahar off but Gulbahar is having none of it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jager can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jager tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gulbahar wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Gulbahar works to advance to full mount. Jager defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Gulbahar cracks Jager with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Poor strikes thrown by Gulbahar there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Gulbahar has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
BOOM! Gulbahar connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Gulbahar is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jager.
Jager is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Jager moves into the clinch successfully.
Gulbahar has Jager pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Jager manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Gulbahar is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Jager is keeping busy.
A right hook to the body lands for Jager.
Jager lands an elbow just above Gulbahar 's eye.


It looks like Ediz Gulbahar has been cut.
Jager lands a nice shot to the body.

Jager's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Gulbahar shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jager napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gulbahar throws a strike aimed at the side of Jager's head but Jager avoids it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ground and pound from Gulbahar seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Gulbahar is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Jager's shoulder. That is not cool.
Gulbahar has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Gulbahar is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jager can do to turn this around?
Jager tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Gulbahar presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Jager tries to hold on but Gulbahar pushes him away.
Gulbahar takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Gulbahar's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ediz Gulbahar will probably get the nod.

As Gulbahar backs off Jager throws a huge counter combo but Gulbahar manages to avoid it all.

Dietrich Jager seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Jager lands a big head kick that sends Gulbahar tumbling to the mat! Jager takes a step backwards and waves Gulbahar back to his feet - he wants the finish!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jager breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gulbahar fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ediz Gulbahar. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jager instigates a clinch.
Jager works on Gulbahar's body with a couple of short punches.

Jager breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Jager counters with a crisp one two that drops Gulbahar! Jager thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Gulbahar to his feet! Gulbahar is in big trouble!

Oh Gulbahar is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Still in the clinch, Jager scores with a nice short uppercut.

Jager manages to break the clinch.

Jager darts in and clinches Gulbahar up against the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Gulbahar takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Jager's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Jager lands a shoulder strike.
Jager works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Jager breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jager shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gulbahar defends it nicely.
Jager scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gulbahar doesn't seem bothered though.
Ediz Gulbahar is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jager fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jager.

Gulbahar is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jager's half guard.

Dietrich Jager comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Gulbahar has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
