Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
40 - 32 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scott Morgan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 46 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Trezeguet! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A leg kick checked by Morgan. Trezeguet throws a leg kick but Morgan checks it. Trezeguet throws a body kick that misses and Morgan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Trezeguet clinches with his opponent.
Morgan controlling the action here for a moment.
Trezeguet tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Morgan avoids it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Morgan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Morgan takes the fight into the clinch. Morgan keeps control of Trezeguet as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Morgan tries a knee to the head but Trezeguet blocks it.
Trezeguet tries to pull guard but Morgan won't allow it.
Morgan's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Nice body punch from Trezeguet - that landed with a thud.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Trezeguet escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Morgan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Trezeguet. Trezeguet misses with a body kick. It looked like Morgan was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Trezeguet. Morgan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. A low kick from Trezeguet is predictable there and Morgan counters with a two punch combo. David Trezeguet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Trezeguet misses with a body kick. Morgan appears to be looking for a big counter. A combination from Morgan does no damage. Morgan on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Trezeguet ducks straight into an uppercut from Morgan and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Trezeguet manages to regain guard straight away.
Trezeguet is rocked! Trezeguet being controlled here, momentarily. Trezeguet is still in real trouble! Can Morgan finish him? Morgan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Trezeguet seems to have recovered his senses. Morgan stands and steps away. Trezeguet gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Morgan takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Morgan cracks Trezeguet with a hook to the temple - Trezeguet is on wobbly legs here! Morgan swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Trezeguet falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Morgan wins by TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Scott Morgan! A relieved looking Scott Morgan thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
