PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hwai Ja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kean Devlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kean Devlin was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hwai Ja!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kean Devlin!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ja drops his hands momentarily and Devlin takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Devlin throws a series of punches but Ja moves out of range.
Devlin displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Devlin blocks a head kick by Ja.

Ja darts in and clinches Devlin up against the ropes.
Devlin has had enough of the clinch but Ja keeps him there for the moment.

Ja tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Devlin avoids it.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ja slips a jab from Devlin.
Hwai Ja seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ja tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Devlin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Devlin avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ja fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Devlin misses with the combination.
Devlin throws an off balance right hand
and Ja counters with a nice leg kick.

Ja instigates a clinch.
Devlin looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

It looks like Kean Devlin has been cut.
Devlin tries to circle away but Ja has him pinned against the ropes.
Devlin is trying to force a seperation but Ja has the dominant position.
Devlin is trying to push Ja away but Ja has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.
Devlin blocks an uppercut.
Devlin blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Ja tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Ja is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Ja with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Ja digs a right hand underneath Devlin's ribcage. Devlin let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Ja is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.
Ja working the clinch nicely. Devlin is working for position but Ja cracks him with a big knee to the head! Devlin crumples up against the ropes and Ja lands two more shots before the ref can save Devlin! This one is all over!
