Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Optimus Prime (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyron Woodley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tyron Woodley was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Optimus Prime! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Tyron Woodley! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Prime misses with a combination
letting Woodley counter with a right hand. Woodley takes one to the side of the head.
Prime misses with a lunging right hand
and Woodley counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Prime is lucky that one didn't land flush. A combination from Prime does no damage. Woodley lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. A low kick from Prime misses and Woodley counters with a series of strikes. Prime will be more careful next time no doubt. Prime moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! Prime scores with a nice head shot. Prime throws a front kick aimed at Woodley's knee but Woodley avoids it well. Woodley throws a counter combo. Prime has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Vicious Striking in the buildup to the fight. Woodley keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Prime. Prime misses with an uppercut
and Woodley counters with a series of strikes. Prime will be more careful next time no doubt. Woodley uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Prime. Prime throws a leg kick that is checked and Woodley counters with a head kick.

and Woodley counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Prime tries to clinch up. Woodley ducks under a wild hook from Prime. Optimus Prime seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Prime moves in looking to clinch but Woodley pushes him off. Prime throws a lazy uppercut
enabling Woodley to counter with a crisp jab. Sloppy strikes from Prime. Those never looked like landing. Prime connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. A jab from Prime finds it's way through Woodley's defenses. Prime missing with a left hand there. Woodley was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. It seemed like Woodley was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Prime throws a looping overhand right but Woodley ducks down to avoid it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Prime rushes Woodley and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Prime throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Woodley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Prime clobbers Woodley with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Woodley defending well as Prime loads up on a big left hand. Prime connects with a jab.
Woodley is rocked! Prime rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Woodley counters with a one-two to the body. Woodley slips a straight right by Prime. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Woodley! But no joy. Prime punishes Woodley's body with a nice straight punch. Woodley slips under a jab. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Woodley! But no joy. Prime swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Woodley now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Prime misses with a looping left. Tyron Woodley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Prime throws a chopping leg kick but Woodley manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Woodley swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Prime tries to clinch there but Woodley circles away.

Prime throws a leg kick and Woodley cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Prime bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Woodley's head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Prime has his takedown stuffed and Woodley makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Prime throws a series of punches but Woodley moves out of range. Woodley throws a counter combo. A punch combination from Prime misses. A combination from Prime does no damage. Woodley throws out a counter right but Prime avoids it with no problem. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Prime with a lazy takedown attempt and Woodley counters with a nice uppercut. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Optimus Prime dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Woodley throws out a counter right but Prime avoids it with no problem. Prime misses with a hook. Woodley uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Prime. Prime bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Prime looks to land a combination. Woodley sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Woodley slips a jab and a cross from Prime.
Despite the aggression on Woodley's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. A decent looking cross lands there for Prime. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Prime tries to bum rush Woodley with a series of wild strikes but Woodley uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Optimus Prime is winning the standup battle so far. Prime swinging wildly here.
As Prime backs off Woodley throws a huge counter combo but Prime manages to avoid it all. Prime shoots in but Woodley avoids the takedown attempt easily. Woodley raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

and Woodley connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Prime bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Woodley is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Prime landing strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Woodley is trying to get back to half guard. Woodley manages to work his way to half guard, despite Prime's best efforts. Woodley controlling the position well. Prime throwing shots but Woodley is blocking nicely. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Prime missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Woodley is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Prime scores with a couple of nice shots. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Woodley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Prime is working away from the top position though. Woodley is looking for a sweep. Prime is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Woodley manages to get to full guard.

Prime is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Woodley is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Woodley utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Prime throws a big right hand that misses. Woodley wants to sweep but no luck. Prime postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Woodley not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Prime misses with a lunging right hand
and Woodley makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Woodley tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Prime scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Woodley's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Prime connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Woodley scrambles back to his feet. Prime darts in looking for a takedown but Woodley gets double underhooks and turns Prime into the cage. Prime misses with a low kick as Woodley jumps back. Prime misses with a takedown and Prime takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Optimus Prime. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Prime throws a right hand that misses

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Optimus Prime. Well Prime has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
