PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tory Moss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cono McGregor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGregor is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by foggy dew. Cono McGregor has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Tory Moss's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Cono McGregor!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Glass and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGregor throws out a powerful jab.
No joy there for McGregor, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
McGregor looks to land a body kick but Moss moved away.
A slow jab from McGregor misses its intended target.
Moss throwing a counter right hand but McGregor manages to avoid it.
McGregor looks to land a body kick but Moss moved away.
McGregor tests Moss's chin there with a solid looking shot.
McGregor swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Moss counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Moss.
McGregor is pulling down on Moss's head to control his posture.

Moss drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and McGregor dives on top into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGregor stays in close to Moss's body and controls the position.

McGregor pushes down on Moss's leg and manages to get into half guard.

McGregor seems to be working for a kimura but Moss defends the submission attempt.
Still in half guard, McGregor seems content to control.
McGregor's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Moss tries to roll over but McGregor keeps him under control.
Moss wants to control but McGregor is keeping busy.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The fighters are battling for position here. Moss manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
McGregor passes Moss's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Moss is looking for a sweep. McGregor is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Moss has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McGregor is working away from the top position though.
McGregor missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

McGregor stands up from half guard.
Moss blocks a head kick by McGregor.

McGregor throws a sloppy head kick and Moss moves out of range easily.
As McGregor tries to get set, Moss tries to push him back and clinch up but McGregor manages to avoid the attempt.
McGregor lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Moss circles away quickly and effectively.
Moss attempts a counter takedown but McGregor avoids it well and moves away.
A slapping leg kick lands for McGregor.
McGregor moves out of range as Moss throws a body kick.
McGregor looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Moss really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
McGregor throws a nice head kick!
McGregor looks winded!
McGregor throws a head kick but Moss moves out of range.

McGregor shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than McGregor was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Moss tries to bench press McGregor off him but McGregor keeps the position.
Moss is working hard here to advance position.
Moss is not content to let McGregor control the position.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Moss is looking to regain half guard here but McGregor keeps moving and retains side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McGregor remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
You can see the frustration on Moss's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Moss blocks a head kick by McGregor.

and Moss counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Moss has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Moss is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McGregor breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Moss misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

McGregor throws a nice inside leg kick.
Cono McGregor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McGregor feints and as Moss raises his hands in defense, McGregor changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Moss is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

McGregor decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Cono McGregor is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McGregor will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
McGregor tries to close the distance and clinch up but Moss swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Moss is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from McGregor.
Cono McGregor seems to be getting the better of the standup.
McGregor swings for the body but Moss moves out of range.
Moss half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

McGregor closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Moss is trying to get back to full guard.
Moss knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McGregor on the ground.
Moss wants to control but McGregor is keeping busy.

McGregor wants to free his trapped foot but Moss is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Cono McGregor has got the better of the ground game so far.
Moss is looking to improve his position.
McGregor perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

McGregor decides to return to a standing position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
McGregor misses with the combination.
Crunch! McGregor slams his shin into Moss's torso.
Some wild striking there from McGregor.
McGregor throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
McGregor pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

McGregor closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Moss quickly recovers to half guard.
Moss is looking to control McGregor's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Moss avoid being mounted?
McGregor not landing any meaningful shots this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cono McGregor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


McGregor throws a right hand that Moss ducks under and follows up with a left that Moss also avoids with ease.
McGregor misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
McGregor takes a swing at Moss's ribcage but misses.
McGregor swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Moss slips a jab and a cross from McGregor.
McGregor ducks under a wild hook from Moss.
McGregor avoids a kick to the body.
McGregor has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Tory Moss is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McGregor throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Moss tried to counter with a leg kick but McGregor avoided it.
McGregor drops his hands momentarily and Moss takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
McGregor tries a head kick but it misses.
A slow jab from Moss misses its intended target.

McGregor closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Moss to the mat! Moss manages to get full guard.

McGregor sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Moss's guard.
Moss is looking to control McGregor's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Moss avoid being mounted?
McGregor looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Moss tries to get to full guard but McGregor has control of the leg.

McGregor decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
A decent looking cross lands there for McGregor.
Cono McGregor is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Moss avoids the head kick by McGregor.
McGregor throws a front kick that sends Moss stumbling back into the cage.
McGregor lands a jab to Moss's midsection.
A good leg kick by McGregor.

McGregor throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Moss misses with a low kick.
A slapping body kick lands there for McGregor.
McGregor lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Moss connects with a right hand. McGregor shakes it off.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McGregor misses with a head kick.
Moss throws the kick towards the body but McGregor avoids it.
McGregor throws a right hand that Moss ducks under and follows up with a left that Moss also avoids with ease.
A head kick misses from McGregor.
Tory Moss has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Moss fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

And that's the end of the fight!
Cono McGregor comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got McGregor winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
