Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Eli Armis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Moreno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Armis comes to the cage accompanied by Mortal Kombat Theme. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Paulo Moreno was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
29 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eli Armis! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paulo Moreno! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Moreno defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Armis. Armis shoots in but Moreno avoids the takedown attempt easily. Armis lands a right hook to the body.
Moreno displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Armis. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eli Armis. That's going to take a lot out of him. Armis shoots in and drives through. Moreno sprawls well. Moreno is looking to clinch. Armis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Moreno looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Moreno tries to improve position but can't. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Armis tries to move into full mount but can't pass Moreno's legs.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Armis trying to control the action but Moreno is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Moreno is looking for a sweep. Armis closes the distance and clinches up with Moreno, looking for a takedown. Armis pushes Moreno against the cage but Moreno circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Moreno has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Moreno there as he acknowledges the shot. Armis throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Moreno tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Armis is in Moreno's guard. Moreno bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Armis's guard. Moreno seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Armis has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Moreno avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Eli Armis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Armis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Moreno defends well. Armis trying to keep a closed guard but Moreno is proving a slippery customer.

Moreno looking to sit in guard and control but Armis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Armis wants to control from the top but Moreno keeps moving. Armis is really struggling to control Moreno but he's trying to hold on to the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Armis tries to free his leg and advance position but Moreno is retaining full guard. Moreno keeping moving, preventing Armis from controlling successfully. Armis sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Moreno's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Moreno is staying active underneath Armis, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Moreno is controlling Armis's trapped leg to prevent Armis from advancing to side control. Armis is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Moreno! Armis controlling the position easily from mount. Armis wants to finish this one by submission but Moreno is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Armis. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Armis looking to control but Moreno is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Armis goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Moreno is on top in guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Armis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Armis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over. Moreno with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Armis jumps guard but Moreno stands there with Armis around his waist. Armis gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
