The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Buren is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Van Buren closes the distance and clinches up with Slaughter, looking for a takedown. Van Buren pushes Slaughter against the cage but Slaughter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Van Buren shoots in for a double leg but Slaughter sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
