Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bobby McBarz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Toby Quail! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Bruno Lombardi and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice straight punches there by Quail. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Quail. Quail lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Quail throws a body punch but McBarz moves out of range. Quail throws a right hand that misses
letting McBarz counter with a right hand. Quail gets a double leg takedown into McBarz's guard. Quail controls from within his opponent's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Quail works over McBarz with some ground and pound from guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Quail works over McBarz with some ground and pound from guard. Quail stays in close to McBarz's body and controls the position. Quail cracks McBarz with a solid left hand. Quail content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Quail connects with a couple of short punches. McBarz throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Quail landing with the ground and pound. Quail seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. It looks like Quail might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Quail has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quail distracts McBarz with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
It looks like Bobby McBarz has been cut. Quail is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. McBarz is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Quail stands and throws McBarz's legs to the side, diving into side control. McBarz seems a little lost for a moment, as Quail dominates the positioning. Let's hope that Quail has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Toby Quail seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Quail scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Quail is nestled in close to McBarz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Quail stalling. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Toby Quail dominated that round. The cut man is working on Bobby McBarz's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Quail scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. A jab from Quail does it's job there. Quail throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
It looked like McBarz wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Quail lands a head shot. Quail bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps McBarz's head backwards. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Quail shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. McBarz manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Quail is standing up over McBarz. McBarz looks to escape but Quail dives into side control.
Quail has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Quail working the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. McBarz is positioning himself to get back to half guard. McBarz is trying to control Quail's posture but Quail avoids it. Quail is trying to get an arm triangle but McBarz is defending well. Quail working the body and head with strikes. McBarz struggling a bit here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Quail landing a few strikes. Quail tries for a kimura but McBarz is defending well. McBarz definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Quail taking a breather here. Quail tries for a kimura but McBarz is defending well. Quail lands a decent elbow from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on McBarz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Quail looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Quail wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McBarz, who protects the arm well. Quail controlling the position from side mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Quail lands a nice forearm strike. Quail working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Bobby McBarz's cut is getting worse. McBarz wants to control but Quail postures up. McBarz tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Quail wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Quail landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Quail controls the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Toby Quail showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Bobby McBarz's cut. That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

The fight moves into the clinch position. Quail leaning against his opponent.
Quail gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Quail landing some decent shots from guard. Quail gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Quail misses with a jab to the body
and McBarz counters with a stiff right hand. Quail moves into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Quail misses with a hook from the clinch. Quail has clasped his hands together around McBarz's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. The referee asks Quail politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Quail prefers to stall for the moment though. McBarz wants to get back to his feet. Quail lands an elbow.
Bobby McBarz's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Quail landing a few strikes. A lull in the action here as Quail stalls from top position. Quail lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear McBarz down.
Jeez, Bobby McBarz's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Bobby McBarz's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
