Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Fausto Rowe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ernestas Varnas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fausto Rowe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ernestas Varnas!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rowe gets caught flat footed, as Varnas shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Rowe has his feet on Varnas's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Varnas throws the kick towards the body but Rowe avoids it.

Varnas shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rowe manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Rowe pulls Varnas in to control the position.
Varnas pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rowe is keeping the position for now.

Varnas controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rowe pulls Varnas in to control the position.
Rowe lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Rowe postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Rowe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Varnas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rowe has managed to get both his arms back between Varnas's legs - danger averted.
Rowe won't allow Varnas to get back to his feet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Rowe is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Varnas wants to get back to his feet.
Varnas trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Rowe manages to pass to mount!
Varnas is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Rowe has taken his back!

Varnas rolls, trying to escape but Rowe keeps control of the position.
Rowe is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
Rowe is landing with strikes from the back.

Rowe has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Rowe cracks Varnas with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Varnas from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Rowe goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Varnas escapes and is now in half guard on top.

Varnas is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Varnas shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Rowe keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rowe will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Varnas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Rowe has control of Varnas's left arm, preventing Varnas from doing any damage.

Varnas seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Rowe is pulling down on Varnas's head. It's preventing any offense from Varnas, at least for the moment.
Varnas's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Varnas feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rowe has his feet on Varnas's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Ernestas Varnas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rowe has managed to clinch.
Rowe drops down looking for an ankle pick but Varnas pulls his leg out and moves away.

Varnas shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Rowe is trying to defend but Varnas finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Varnas is looking for a kimura but Rowe is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Varnas to get the leverage.

Rowe regains full guard. Nicely done.
Rowe wants to stand but Varnas is controlling the position.
Rowe controls Varnas momentarily but Varnas frees himself.
Rowe looking to hit a scissor sweep but Varnas is one step ahead there.
Varnas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Varnas wants to control from the top but Rowe keeps moving.
Varnas is breathing heavily.
Rowe is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rowe is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Varnas moves into full guard.

Varnas looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Rowe lands a couple of elbows.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Rowe tries to clinch but Varnas moves out of range.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Rowe enables Varnas to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rowe manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Rowe has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Varnas has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Varnas has hold of one of Rowe's legs. Rowe is fighting the takedown attempt but Varnas gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Rowe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Varnas's guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Varnas is trying to control the position but Rowe postures up.

Varnas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Varnas wants to hit a switch here but Rowe passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Varnas there!

Rowe working for a guillotine from mount but Varnas is in no mood to give up.
Varnas is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Rowe is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Varnas can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Varnas is desperately trying to improve his position but Rowe has a good base and remains in mount.
Rowe avoids the attempt from Varnas to control.

Varnas is bucking up trying to escape but Rowe cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Rowe looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Rowe with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Varnas wants to control but Rowe is having none of it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Varnas defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Rowe.

Rowe looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Varnas working to try and regain half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Varnas is trying to stand but he's just given Rowe his back.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fausto Rowe showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rowe, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
