The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
As Shaw backs away, Fluentez returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Shaw looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Fluentez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Shaw's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fluentez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fluentez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Fluentez remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Fluentez feints and as Shaw raises his hands in defense, Fluentez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Fluentez is pushing down on Shaw's leg trying to pass to half guard. Shaw is fighting to maintain full guard but Fluentez has managed to sneak the leg through.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shaw can do anything to dispel that myth.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
