The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ramos shoots for a takedown but Fitzgerald saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Fitzgerald is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Ramos takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Fitzgerald breaks the clinch.
Ramos drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fitzgerald is positioning himself to get back to half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fitzgerald can do anything to dispel that myth. Ramos postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Ramos looks up at the clock and then as Fitzgerald takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Ramos smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
That's one minute gone in the round. Ramos trying to control the position but Fitzgerald is working away. Ramos has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Fitzgerald is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Ramos yanks on the arm and Fitzgerald is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Ramos.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jackson Ramos!
