Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gabryel Catchmaer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shane Ripgut! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Catchmaer doesn't manage to clinch there - Ripgut circles away.
Catchmaer keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Ripgut. Sloppy strikes from Ripgut. Those never looked like landing. Ripgut throws a sloppy head kick and Catchmaer moves out of range easily. Ripgut pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A left and a right from Catchmaer both land. Nice combination. Ripgut takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Catchmaer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Catchmaer fails in his attempt to clinch. A slow jab from Catchmaer misses its intended target. Ripgut throws a lazy right hand but Catchmaer sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. A little feinted left hand from Catchmaer on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Ripgut misses the shot to the body. Ripgut clinches with his opponent.
Catchmaer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ripgut throws a right and a left that both miss. It looked like Catchmaer wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Ripgut throws a hook but Catchmaer blocks it. Ripgut looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Catchmaer bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Catchmaer scores with a jab. Catchmaer scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Ripgut throws a head kick that misses. Ripgut has Catchmaer up against the cage in a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ripgut tries to circle away but Catchmaer has him pinned against the cage. Ripgut breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Catchmaer's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Catchmaer duly obliges. Good exchange - Catchmaer coming out on top. Catchmaer tests Ripgut's chin there with a solid looking shot. Ripgut takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Ripgut tries to close the distance and clinch up but Catchmaer swats him away and circles back towards the center. Ripgut slips a jab from Catchmaer. Catchmaer lands a jab to the nose. Ripgut tries to close the distance and clinch up but Catchmaer swats him away and circles back towards the center. Ripgut scores with a head kick. Catchmaer tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
It looks like Gabryel Catchmaer has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ripgut walks into a stiff left hand from Catchmaer. Catchmaer clobbers Ripgut with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Ripgut gets tackled into the cage by Catchmaer. Catchmaer maintains the clinch. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Ripgut breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Catchmaer swings and misses with a hook to the body.
An inside leg kick from Catchmaer misses. Ripgut throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Catchmaer crumples to the floor and the fight is over!
