Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ken Kahne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takeshi Watanabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Watanabe has chosen The Handsome Family - Far From Any Road as his entrance music. Takeshi Watanabe told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ken Kahne! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 24 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Takeshi Watanabe! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Watanabe gets caught flat footed, as Kahne shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Watanabe is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Kahne dives into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Watanabe is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Watanabe is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Watanabe tries to improve position but can't. Kahne working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Kahne working the head with strikes. Watanabe taking a bit of punishment here - Kahne scoring with strikes. Watanabe wants to get back to his feet. Watanabe is trying to improve his position. Kahne is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Watanabe wants to get back to his feet. Kahne connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Watanabe some visible discomfort.
Watanabe tries to improve position but can't. Watanabe takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Watanabe is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Kahne is putting a hurting on Watanabe here, landing some big shots from side control. Watanabe tries to buck Kahne off but Kahne is having none of it. Kahne lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Watanabe down.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kahne looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Kahne cracks Watanabe with a big elbow. Watanabe is not content to let Kahne control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ken Kahne dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Kahne connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Kahne misses the body punch and Watanabe counters with a series of strikes. Kahne will be more careful next time no doubt. Kahne throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Watanabe moves out of range as Kahne strikes. Kahne scores with a punch to the head. Kahne scores with a shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kahne looks to land a right hand but Watanabe moved out of range. As Kahne backs off Watanabe throws a huge counter combo but Kahne manages to avoid it all. Kahne just misses with a punch to the body.

Watanabe avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Watanabe feints the counter takedown. Kahne turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Kahne lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice defenses there by Watanabe. Kahne looks to land a body kick but Watanabe moved away. Kahne looks to land a right hand but Watanabe moved out of range. Watanabe drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kahne defends it well. Ken Kahne is winning the standup battle so far. Kahne shoots in looking for a takedown. Watanabe tries to sprawl out of it but Kahne keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Watanabe manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Kahne throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Watanabe is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kahne goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Watanabe is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Watanabe steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Kahne. That one must have hurt. Kahne throws the kick towards the body but Watanabe avoids it. Watanabe is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Nice defenses there by Watanabe. Watanabe is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Watanabe checks a leg kick. Kahne tries a low kick but Watanabe avoids it. Kahne is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Watanabe can do to turn this around? and Watanabe counters with a left and a right that stings Kahne. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kahne misses with an uppercut. Watanabe is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Watanabe drops his hands momentarily and Kahne takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Kahne closes this distance looking for a takedown but Watanabe circles away. Kahne catches Watanabe with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Kahne throws a lazy right hand but Watanabe sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Watanabe is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. This has been an exciting period of action! Kahne throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Watanabe sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Kahne prevents Watanabe from improving his position. Kahne slips a nice elbow through Watanabe's hands, connecting with Watanabe's forehead. Watanabe taking some punishment here, with Kahne in his half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Watanabe is looking to improve his position.
Watanabe has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Kahne is on him like a limpet, forcing Watanabe back against the cage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Watanabe tries to break free but Kahne pushes him back against the cage. Watanabe working hard to break the clinch. Takeshi Watanabe has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Watanabe can't break the clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! Ken Kahne showed his dominance in that final round. Well Kahne has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
