Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dave Macias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Aveiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dave Macias!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Aveiro!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aveiro dives in and scores a takedown into Macias's guard.
Aveiro postures up in Macias's guard and throws a big left but Macias blocks it.
Aveiro works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Macias tries to get to full guard but Aveiro has control of the leg.

Aveiro is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Macias sees it coming and defends easily.
Aveiro stops Macias from getting back to his feet.
Macias trying to hold on to Aveiro's head to control him but Aveiro postures up.
Aveiro prevents Macias from standing back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aveiro seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Macias does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Macias utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Macias will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Aveiro thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Aveiro shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Aveiro showed some decent athleticism there.
Macias is trying to control but can't.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Macias enables Aveiro to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Macias manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Macias really wants to buck Aveiro off and get back to his feet.

Macias looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Macias is trying to get back to his feet but Aveiro has full control of the position and if anything, Macias has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Aveiro controlling the position well here. Macias rolled but Aveiro kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Jose Aveiro showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Macias's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Aveiro fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Macias to the ground. Aveiro is now in Macias's guard.

Macias pushes Aveiro off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Aveiro sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Macias's guard.
Macias is pressing down on Aveiro's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Aveiro swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Macias cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Macias gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Aveiro must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Aveiro takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Aveiro fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Macias, pushing him back against the cage.

Aveiro gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Macias manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Aveiro keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Aveiro gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Macias regains guard.
Macias has his hands on Aveiro's head, controlling the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dave Macias.
I think Aveiro has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
