Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robin Yount!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
13 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sambo Rambo!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rambo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Yount defends it nicely.
Rambo's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Yount connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Rambo scrambles back to his feet.
Rambo misses with a wild combination.
Rambo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Yount manages to avoid it.
Yount has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Yount really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rambo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Yount pinned against the cage. Yount gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A slapping body kick lands there for Rambo.
Rambo digs a good hook to Yount's body.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Rambo takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Yount connects with a looping right hand.
A thudding body kick lands there by Rambo!
Rambo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Yount as he avoids it easily.
Robin Yount has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sambo Rambo.
Both fighters circling a little - Yount finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Rambo ducks under a wild hook from Yount.
Yount moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Yount misses with an uppercut. Rambo saw that one coming.
Yount throws a jab but it's blocked by Rambo.
Rambo changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Rambo staying out of range there.
Yount stuffs the takedown.
Yount scores with a body shot.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Yount feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Rambo sprawling to the canvas! Rambo rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Yount finish him?!
Rambo is rocked!
Yount pounces like a tiger and cracks Rambo with a vicious hook! Rambo is down but not out! Yount follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Robin Yount!
A very excited looking Robin Yount made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
