The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malyuga fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Rowe to the ground. Malyuga is now in Rowe's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rowe manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Malyuga manages to get himself to full guard.
Rowe working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Malyuga's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Rowe is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Malyuga to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Malyuga shrugs it off.
Rowe goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Malyuga is on top in guard.
Rowe is adopting a defensive guard.

Rowe is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Malyuga is in close to Rowe's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Rowe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Malyuga doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Malyuga manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Malyuga wants to control from the top but Rowe keeps moving.
Rowe will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Malyuga stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rowe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rowe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Malyuga changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rowe looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Malyuga is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rowe knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Malyuga thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Malyuga connects with a nice short shot to Rowe's temple.

Rowe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Malyuga's guard.
Malyuga wants to stand up but Rowe is controlling him.

Malyuga wants to hit a switch here but Rowe passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Malyuga there!

Rowe wants to finish this one by submission but Malyuga is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Rowe.
Rowe has isolated one of Malyuga's arms. Malyuga looking to fight him off but Rowe twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
