Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Calmer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Guzman!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Calmer throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Guzman was covering up waiting for the punch and Calmer finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Guzman looking for a guillotine here but Calmer defends easily.

Guzman looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Calmer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Guzman has momentary wrist control but Calmer slips an elbow through the middle.

Guzman is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Guzman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Calmer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Guzman looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Guzman is looking for a triangle here but Calmer uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Calmer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Calmer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Calmer in side control lands a decent elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Guzman tries to buck Calmer off but Calmer is having none of it.
Calmer controls the position.

Calmer working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Guzman tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Calmer easily slips into full mount!
Guzman tries to hold on but Calmer pushes him away.
Guzman can't escape the position.
Guzman looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Calmer is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
I really don't envy Guzman right now.

Guzman tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Calmer tries to control but Guzman wriggling away.
Calmer looking to control and managing it successfully.

Calmer wants to finish this one by submission but Guzman is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Calmer.
Guzman can't escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Guzman tries to lock up and control but Calmer gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Guzman should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Guzman is looking to improve his position but Calmer isn't that keen on the idea.
Calmer controlling the pace for now.
Guzman is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Calmer avoids the attempt from Guzman to control.
Calmer controlling from mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Guzman tries for a takedown but Calmer circles away easily

and Calmer counters with a takedown into side control.


Guzman is rocked!
Calmer remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Calmer scores with a couple of short elbows.
Guzman is still in real trouble! Can Calmer finish him?
The crowd goes nuts as Calmer knocks Guzman out cold with a massive hammerfist! Calmer Jumps to his feet and climbs on top of the cage to celebrate with the crowd!
