PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rodney Rambusch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tiger Shark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rodney Rambusch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tiger Shark!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Bruno Hogan and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rambusch jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Shark bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Shark is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rambusch knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
You can see the frustration on Rambusch's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Shark tries to advance to mount but can't.
Rambusch is looking to regain half guard here but Shark keeps moving and retains side control.
Rambusch on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Rambusch tries to escape but Shark is in control.
Shark working the head with strikes.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rambusch misses with a two punch combination.

Shark uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Rambusch.
Rambusch is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Shark.
Nice sprawl there from Rambusch as Shark shoots in.
Shark closes the distance and clinches up with Rambusch, looking for a takedown. Shark pushes Rambusch against the cage but Rambusch circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Shark tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Rambusch throws a low kick but it's checked well by Shark.

Rambusch decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Shark, up you get!

Rambusch wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

and Rambusch counters with a three punch combo that has Shark backing up. Shark nods at Rambusch to acknowledge the strikes.

Rambusch rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Shark moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
No luck for Shark with that takedown attempt.
Shark changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rambusch tries to avoid it but Shark manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rambusch to the ground. Rambusch escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Horrible takedown by Shark or perhaps it was just good defense by Rambusch which made him look bad.
Rambusch throws a sloppy head kick
and Shark counters with a nice leg kick.

Rambusch keeps the fight on the outside.
Rambusch misses with a body shot.
Rambusch will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rambusch closes the distance but Shark moves to the side

and Shark counters with a shoot takedown. Rambusch fights it but they end up in guard.
Shark postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rambusch wants to stand and escape but Shark is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shark landing with the ground and pound.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Shark stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rambusch swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shark prevents Rambusch from getting back to his feet.

Rambusch is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rambusch goes for a takedown attempt but Shark pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shark looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rodney Rambusch will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Shark counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Shark.
Rambusch wants to stand but Shark is controlling the position.

Rambusch changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Shark looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Shark tries for a takedown but Rambusch sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Shark tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rambusch swivels and escapes.

Shark pushes down on Rambusch's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Shark stops Rambusch from getting back to his feet.
Rambusch pushes Shark off but Shark dives into side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rambusch is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Rambusch's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Tiger Shark showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Rambusch gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

and Shark counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Rambusch regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Shark.
Shark pushes down on Rambusch's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Shark wants to control from the top but Rambusch keeps moving.
Shark advances position into side control!
Rambusch is looking to reverse the position.
Rambusch is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Shark advances to mount.
Shark trying to control but Rambusch is having none of it.
Rambusch is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rambusch bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Shark doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Rambusch distracts Shark with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Shark is working an open guard so Rambusch takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Shark shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Rambusch squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Shark misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Rambusch is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rodney Rambusch.
I think Rambusch has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
