Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dorsey Thornton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Elijah Zheng! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zheng shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Thornton counters with a nice double leg into side control. Zheng won't be happy with that. Thornton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Thornton prevents Zheng from escaping the position. Zheng is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Zheng tries to escape but Thornton is in control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thornton looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Thornton decides to take the fight back to the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zheng throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Zheng lands with a shot to the body. Zheng lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Thornton circles away quickly and effectively. Thornton slips a jab and a cross from Zheng.

Thornton fails with a takedown attempt. Zheng throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Zheng throws a right and a left that both miss. Zheng throws a nice looking combination but Thornton bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Zheng looks winded! Thornton takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thornton closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Zheng's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Zheng is striking off his back. Thornton thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard. Thornton scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Thornton is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Zheng pushes Thornton off but Thornton dives into side control.
Thornton is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Zheng knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Zheng wants to get back to his feet but Thornton drags him back down. Zheng really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thornton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zheng is wriggling around trying to escape but Thornton has hooked up a rear naked choke! Is it over??? Is it... you're damn right it is! Zheng taps out and Thornton picks up the big win! Great work there by Thornton!
