Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jefferey Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bill Brown told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jefferey Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown wants to clinch up but Smith keeps it at a distance.
As Brown looks to move away, Smith throws a big counter combo but Brown just gets out of the way.
Smith throws a series of punches but Brown moves out of range.
Smith shoots and misses
and Brown counters with a nice body shot.
Brown shoots in and bounces Smith off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Smith is wriggling around but Brown manages to pass to half guard.
Smith tries to kick Brown off but Brown keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Brown prevents Smith from standing back up.

Brown is trying to control. Smith wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Brown seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Brown wants to work for an arm triangle but Smith is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Brown really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Brown wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Brown throws a strike but Smith rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Smith stays in close to Brown's body and controls the position.
Smith wanted to stand there but Brown had control of the position.
Brown not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Brown clobbers Smith with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Brown looking to score a takedown here. Smith is defending well but Brown drives through and ends up in Smith's guard.
Smith is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Brown is controlling him.

Smith has his feet on Brown's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Smith gets caught flat footed, as Brown shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Smith throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Brown looking to sit in guard and control but Smith gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Brown wants to control the position but Smith says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Smith is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Brown sees it coming and defends easily.
Smith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brown keeps working.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Smith lands a nice short elbow.
Smith seems to be working for a kimura but Brown defends the submission attempt.

That was a close round but I would say that Jefferey Smith will probably get the nod.

Brown gets a double leg takedown into Smith's guard.
Smith has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Brown off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Smith throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Brown closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Smith regains half guard there - taking advantage of Brown's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Smith tries to roll over but Brown keeps him under control.
Jefferey Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Brown is stalling here. Smith is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Brown seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Smith has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Brown is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Smith is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Smith is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Still in half guard, Smith seems content to control.
Brown is defending against the submission attempts here by Smith.
Smith is taking a breather. Brown says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Smith is fighting off a takedown attempt but Brown is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Smith to the mat. Smith regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Smith is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Brown drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Smith dives on top into guard.
Brown takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smith with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Smith is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Brown wants to get back to his feet but Smith is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Smith drops back looking for a leg! Brown is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Brown manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Brown's guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Smith, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
