PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paul Potts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackson Cash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cash is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Folsom Prison Blues. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Jackson Cash!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Potts gets a clinch.

Potts pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Potts gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Cash throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Potts tries to free his leg and advance position but Cash is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cash not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Cash is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Cash can't keep his opponent in guard - Potts advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Well, if Potts is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Potts uses his free foot to push down on Cash's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Cash.
Cash is trying to escape the mount.

Potts trying to control but Cash is having none of it.

Potts is looking for the choke from the back position but Cash is controlling his hands well.

You can see the frustration on Cash's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Cash manages to reverse the position and now he's in Potts's guard. Nice work there by Cash.

Potts has his foot on Cash's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cash works his way back into a safe position though.
Cash is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Cash missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cash looks gassed!
Potts bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cash's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Potts works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Potts wants to pass the guard but Cash is defending well.
Cash tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Potts has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Potts moves to the back position.

Will Potts go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Potts is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Potts is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
Cash is covering up but some of the strikes from Potts are getting through and doing damage.

Potts has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Cash is defending well but eventually Potts manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Cash has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Paul Potts!
