Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Magnus Svensson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James's entrance music is Jumpman-Drake. A fine choice. Magnus Svensson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Magnus Svensson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Eliza Hachem and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James leaves Svensson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
James misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

We've been hearing reports that James has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
James is trying to drag Svensson to the mat but Svensson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Let's hope that Svensson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Svensson wants to take James's back here but James is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
James sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Svensson is keen to just control but James is a slippery customer.

Svensson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. James swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well James has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
