Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Hayway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Jabber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nathan Hayway!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jim Jabber!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shirou Masuda and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hayway goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Jabber tries a head kick but it misses.
Jabber tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hayway throws a nice outside leg kick.
A solid leg kick lands there for Hayway.
Jabber closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Jabber scores with a one two! Hayway had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Hayway moves out of range as Jabber strikes.
Hayway scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Hayway connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Good leg kick by Hayway there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Jabber avoids the head kick by Hayway.
Hayway throws a head kick but Jabber moves out of range.
Hayway tries to work over Jabber's front leg with a kick but Jabber checks it.

Jabber takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Jim Jabber seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hayway feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Jabber's calf.
Hayway pivots, looking for a leg kick but Jabber is out of range and Hayway settles back down.
Jabber unleashes a big counter combination but Hayway bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jim Jabber is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Hayway misses with a wild body shot.
Hayway fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jabber manages to avoid it.
A little jabbing left from Jabber on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Jabber takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Jabber cracks Hayway with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

so Hayway counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Hayway is looking for a kimura but Jabber is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hayway to get the leverage.
Jabber is refusing to be controlled, as Hayway sits in half guard.

Hayway is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jabber doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hayway.

Jabber tries to roll over but Hayway keeps him under control.

Hayway is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Jabber is defending against the submission attempts here by Hayway.
Hayway seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jabber does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jabber moves into full guard.
Hayway tries to free his leg and advance position but Jabber is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hayway drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jabber manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hayway has Jabber in his guard.


Hayway escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jabber gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jabber avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nathan Hayway will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Jabber lands a lovely overhand right.
Hayway misses with a takedown attempt - Jabber sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A countering left hand to the body from Jabber misses.
Some bone on bone action there as Jabber checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Jabber looks to land a right hand but Hayway moved out of range.

Jabber stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Hayway.

Hayway clinches up with Jabber and pushes him back against the cage.
Hayway keeps control of Jabber as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Jabber is trying to push Hayway away but Hayway has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Jabber has had enough of the clinch but Hayway keeps him there for the moment.

The referee is keeping an eye on Hayway - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hayway is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Jabber is defending well for now.

Hayway throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Jabber tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hayway is in Jabber's guard.
Jabber is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jabber's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nathan Hayway.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hayway, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
