PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between King Peters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marshall Mosbey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, King Peters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marshall Mosbey!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peters shoots and misses
and Mosbey counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Peters fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mosbey avoids it really well and circles away.
Peters has his takedown stuffed
and Mosbey counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for King Peters. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mosbey scores with a hook to the body. Peters takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Mosbey scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Peters shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Mosbey wants to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Peters sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Mosbey is looking to escape.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Peters postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Mosbey to stand up.
Mosbey throws a jab when Peters was well out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mosbey throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Peters throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mosbey makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Peters misses with a takedown attempt
and Peters takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Mosbey motions for Peters to come forward. Mosbey throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Peters.
Mosbey lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Mosbey throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Peters tumbling to the canvas!


Peters is rocked!
Mosbey wants to stand but Peters is controlling his posture from full guard.
Mosbey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peters. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Peters will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Peters holds on and takes a little breather.
Peters has a closed guard, preventing Mosbey from standing up.
Peters is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mosbey throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Peters on the side of the head.
Peters doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Mosbey counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Peters tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mosbey swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Peters closes the distance looking to clinch
and Mosbey counters with a lovely straight right hand!
A big right from Mosbey misses.
A head kick misses from Peters.
Peters with a poor takedown

and Mosbey counters with a big uppercut that knocks Peters off his feet! Mosbey dives into side control looking to finish!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marshall Mosbey dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Peters is defended easily by Mosbey.
A clash of legs there as Peters blocks the low kick.
King Peters is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Peters darts in looking for a takedown but Mosbey gets double underhooks and turns Peters into the cage.
Peters tries to clinch but Mosbey moves away
and Mosbey counters with a straight that turns Peters's legs to rubber! Mosbey pushes forward with more strikes and Peters goes down, battered and bloody! That's a wrap folks!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marshall Mosbey!
A relieved looking Marshall Mosbey thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
