Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Hugo Lewis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nir Sosa! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lewis throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Sosa counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lewis won't be happy with that. Sosa trying to control the action but Lewis is working from the bottom. Lewis is pushing Sosa's head away, looking to escape. Sosa manages to hold on to the position though. Sosa content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Lewis is trying to buck Sosa off. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Lewis throws a leg kick and Sosa counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Lewis pushes Sosa off but Sosa dives into side control.
Lewis pushes Sosa away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Sosa gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Sosa is staying tight to Lewis's torso, preventing him from escaping.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lewis tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Lewis is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Sosa off. It looks like it's working - Sosa slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Lewis displaying calm under pressure there. Lewis tries to clinch up and Sosa counters with a shoot takedown. Lewis fights it but they end up in guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lewis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sosa controls from within his opponent's guard. Sosa prevents Lewis from getting back to his feet.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Lewis throws a wild body kick that Sosa sees coming a mile off. Sosa with the counter takedown but Lewis avoids it easily. Sosa checks a low kick from Lewis. Sosa drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Lewis defends it well. Lewis looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Sosa takes a jab right on the kisser.
Sosa has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Lewis. An inside leg kick lands from Lewis. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lewis throws a quick inside leg kick. Hugo Lewis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lewis rushes Sosa and presses him up against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Hugo Lewis will probably get the nod. That's time! Lewis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Sosa uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lewis. Sosa feints the counter takedown. Lewis lands with an uppercut that bounces Sosa off the cage and back into range. Sosa checks the leg kick nicely there.
Sosa changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Lewis throws a hook but Sosa avoids it easily. Sosa tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Lewis is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sosa can do to turn this around?

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Lewis throws a half hearted mid kick. Lewis misses with a low kick as Sosa jumps back. Lewis throws a leg kick but Sosa sees it coming and moves out of range. Sosa feints the counter takedown. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Lewis throws a leg kick but Sosa sees it coming and checks it nicely. Sosa is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Hugo Lewis dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Lewis swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Sosa uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lewis. Lewis misses with a body kick. Sosa feints the counter takedown. Lewis lands a nice shot that snaps Sosa's head back.

Lewis lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Lewis works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Nir Sosa has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Lewis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sosa swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And that's the end of the fight! Hugo Lewis showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lewis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
