Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Zurab Sergeev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
35 - 36 - 2, fighting out of London, Carlos Strikes! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Richard Clark and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sergeev shoots in for a takedown but Strikes shows good takedown defense. Sergeev misses with a takedown attempt and Strikes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Strikes looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Strikes throwing shots but Sergeev is blocking nicely. Strikes stands up from half guard. Sergeev bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Strikes throws Sergeev to one side and escapes! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Strikes looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Sergeev actively working from the bottom here. Strikes passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Sergeev! Strikes throwing strikes here but Sergeev is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Sergeev has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Sergeev rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Strikes seems to be working for a kimura but Sergeev defends the submission attempt. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Strikes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Strikes in particular looking to stall.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Sergeev looking for submissions off his back. Strikes slips a nice elbow through Sergeev's hands, connecting with Sergeev's forehead. Strikes is figuring out what he wants to do next. Sergeev looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Sergeev is trying to get back to full guard. Strikes stands up and beckons Sergeev to join him on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carlos Strikes dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Sergeev doesn't succeed with the takedown and Strikes counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Sergeev tries to break the clinch but Strikes is controlling the position. Strikes lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Sergeev. Strikes comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Strikes lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Sergeev pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Strikes clinches up against the cage. Strikes has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Strikes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Zurab Sergeev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Strikes clinches. Sergeev is looking to take this one to the mat. Strikes breaks the clinch.
Sergeev has his takedown stuffed and Strikes counters with a three punch combo that has Sergeev backing up. Sergeev nods at Strikes to acknowledge the strikes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zurab Sergeev. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sergeev shoots for a takedown but Strikes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Sergeev doesn't succeed with the takedown and Strikes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Strikes lands a big head kick that sends Sergeev tumbling to the mat! Strikes takes a step backwards and waves Sergeev back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Sergeev is rocked! Sergeev loses concentration momentarily and Strikes pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Sergeev crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Strikes finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.
