Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shinya Kawajiri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bo Snowflake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bo Snowflake struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 147.0lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bo Snowflake! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Snowflake shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kawajiri but Kawajiri pushes him off and we're back to square one. Shinya Kawajiri seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kawajiri changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Snowflake looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Kawajiri wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Snowflake, who protects the arm well. Kawajiri staying busy and making it hard for Snowflake to control. Well, with Snowflake on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Kawajiri is tapping out... Can he escape the position? Snowflake looks gassed! Kawajiri drops back looking for a leg! Snowflake is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Snowflake manages to kick Kawajiri off! Kawajiri jumps back into Snowflake's guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Kawajiri closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Snowflake to the mat! Snowflake manages to get full guard. Kawajiri is fighting to break Snowflake's control of his arms but Snowflake is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Snowflake is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Kawajiri pulls his head out easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kawajiri shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Snowflake's guard. Snowflake working a defensive guard but Kawajiri manages to pass into side control anyway.

Kawajiri swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Kawajiri working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Snowflake doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Snowflake manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Snowflake drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kawajiri dives on top into guard. Kawajiri has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Kawajiri has picked Snowflake up and slammed him! Snowflake can't keep hold of the triangle and Kawajiri manages to pass to side control! Snowflake is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Snowflake tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Snowflake defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Kawajiri. Kawajiri looking to control but Snowflake is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Snowflake tries to hold on but Kawajiri postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kawajiri is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Snowflake has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Snowflake is desperately trying to improve his position but Kawajiri has a good base and remains in mount.
